  • Great question! At Miss Hannah’s, we use both mushroom and butterfly kernels, depending on the flavor and texture we're going for. Mushroom kernels pop into large, round, ball-shaped pieces. They’re sturdier and hold their shape well, which makes them perfect for coating in caramel, chocolate, cheese, and other rich toppings. Most of our gourmet flavors use mushroom popcorn for that reason—more surface area means more flavor in every bite! Butterfly kernels, on the other hand, have an irregular, “winged” shape when popped. They’re lighter, crispier, and a little more delicate. We use butterfly kernels in a few select flavors where we want that classic, airy crunch—especially for simpler, salt-based recipes. Each kernel type brings something special to the mix, and we love using both to craft the perfect popcorn experience!

We launched a new flavor called Miss Hannah’s Secret Home Recipe, and the name says it all. For years, Hannah broke all the “popcorn CEO” rules by making her own personal batches at home using whatever was in her kitchen. Eventually, our production team decided to recreate her exact recipe—and they nailed it. Now that it’s officially on the menu, it’s hands down her go-to flavor!
